2011Spring Pony Club Events

 

Calendar of events:

Next Lesson at Mackenzie Meadows is Monday May 9th

  • May 6-8 HTBC Johvale Clinic

  • May 21st - 23rd Johvale  Horse Trials

  • Mock testing and Examiner’s clinic is June 18, 19, 2011. Contact Therese Ferguson

  •    Pony Club Championships - Thompson Valley Pony Club to host. Date is July 23, 24 2011 at Sun Meadows in Kamloops. Medals classes included.

  • BCIN Rally dates are August 19-21, 2011

    at Topline. Branches need to support by sending teams or individuals to participate in Rally, to cover the costs of the event.

    Pre-training will be the highest level offered.

        

·        Next BCIN meeting date. New BCIN R&R’s can meet by teleconference or in person. Possible to have all of the meetings by teleconference. Discussion about having another meeting so that the meetings are not so long. BCIN Meeting in April . Next meeting - Monday April 18, 2011.  7:30pm scheduled for next teleconference meeting.

STPC Meeting December 6th, 2010
 
5:15 Meeting Calls to Order. Minutes taken by Patti Soppit
 
In Attendance:  Bev, Trish, Patti, Donna, Kathy, Loreli, Kristianna, Danielle, Kirsta.
 
Trish read minutes from last meeting Motioned Read by Bev, 2nd by Patti.
 
Old Business:  Bev will purchase jump cups from Greenhawk and bring the bill to be reimbursed by the club for the STPC jump at Johvale.
 
Donna says the STPC bank account is officially at the Interior Savings in Chase. 
 
New Business:
 
We have 12 pies left and 1 apple crisp after Bev and Patti bought  more.
 
Bev asked for more membership forms as she has entered Sierra. Trish will send all the late forms in together now.
 
Budget was announced at $7,355 and was handed out to everyone to look over and will be looked at at next years meeting.
 
Bev wants to use $200 made from bottle drive to go towards the senior girls purchasing their own first aid kit.  Motioned to go from Patti and 2nd from Trish.
 
Do senior girls need to still do house cleaning from the silent auction bidder was?  Ask Kathleen?
 
Trish needs to order pins and medical armbands for club.  Bev motioned to go ahead and Trish 2nd that.
 
Quiz:  1st weekend in March. Trish asked if we  $ from last year to pay for motels. DId we vote? Bring up in next meeting.
 
Bev asked if the club can keep our library at PCA in a box, she will ask them for permission. I motioned yes and Trish 2nd that.
 
Trish asked that kids at all functions need to have one adult responsible for them as there as so many kids and horses involved.

November 8, 2010

 

Photocoping

          Motion made to reimburse photocopying with receipts $10.00/class for winter session of lessons. Instructors will be reimbursed for photocopying of study guides – one for each clubber.[M,S,C]

 

Treasurer

 

·        Signing Authorities

o   Signing authorities for 2010/2011 club year will be: Donna Deweyer, Trish Garland, Kathleen Wright

·        Change of bank account.

o    Motion from May 2010 stands that we would like to change bank accounts from the RBC to Interior Savings Credit Union. Need witnesses to sign minutes.

·        Purchasing jump cups

o   Motion made to purchase 2 more sets of jump cups for South Thompson Pony Club jump at Johvale. [M,S,C]

·        Budget

o   tabled

 

Pie Making

          9:00 am Thursday at Pritchard hall. Bring apple peelers, rolling pins. Lunch provided.

 

Manuals

          New members need a Pony Club manual. Members are responsible for money for manual. Would someone like to put an order through for club? Suggestion is that if you can only afford one manual this year the best resource would be the Manual Of Horsemanship (The British Manual). It is available through Canadian Pony Club, on order through Chapters or Amazon.com.

Shirts

          Kathleen brought 3 Pony Club shirts to meeting to distribute to those who do not have their own. Cathy has an embroidery machine and can embroider T-shirts for members. Any black shirt or T- shirt will do.

South Thompson Pony Club Meeting March 8th, 2010

  • Meeting called to order at 6:15pm 
    • In attendance: Loreli, Kathleen, Trish, Bev, Mollie, Krista & Patti 
  • Old Business
    • Quiz comments: good fun, great learning experience, will ask kids next year if they would prefer to stay as a STPC team and some members may have to ‘stretch’ to a higher level or they can split up into part teams and compete at their ‘proper’ level
    • T-shirts: Members may purchase any style black shirt and STPC will have it embroidered
    • Patti will book table at Thompson Valley tack sale for March 27
    • First Aid Kits for C level members $50 - ok if we have funds available 
  • Riding Lessons
    • April 19 start date @ Johvale unless notified differently
    • 5:15 pm D & D1 levels (Jenna, Clayton, Abby, Brenna, Julia) @ arena by house / taught by Sarah @ $15 / lesson (club pays)
    • 6 pm D2 level (Levi, Danika, Asher?, ) @ arena by house / taught by Aleah @ $30 / lesson (club pays)
    • 6 pm C level (Morgan, Kirstin, Katie, Danielle, Jessica) @ warm up ring / taught by Kristianna @ $30 / lesson (club pays)
    • Did I miss anyone???
    • Jamie Kidston clinic @ Johvale May 29 & 30 (members would pay, but would be worthwhile)
    • Upcoming 3 day event clinic @ Johvale is also worthwhile and open to anyone who has not previously 3 day evented (price approx $100 / date ?)
  • Spaghetti dinner April 10
    • We must must must get donations coming.
    • Donation letter has been sent out so please email Kathleen (irishacres.wright@gmail.com) if you do not have it. Please black out the line which states that tax deductible receipts are available.
    • Inform Patti (a6a69875@telus.net) when you approach a business with the letter because she will post it online. Please also check online that the buisness you are appoaching is not already listed as we would like to avoid ‘double bugging’
    • Motion made by Trish to buy proper storage containers for paper goods. Seconded by Kathleen. Motion passed.
    • New price for dinner $30 / family or $10 / person (5 and under free)
    • Kathleen to put ad in Pritchard newsletter
    • Desserts - idea was discussed to provide only 4 types of dessert 
  • Championships
      • Review of last year’s Championships brought about the following ideas:
        • Less course changes
        • There is tons of work to do :) We are totally worthy to the task !
    • Johvale chosen as the place 
    • Loreli to determine if the dates of July 24/25 are available
    • Bev is willing to be the prize buyer
    • Patti is willing to manage the entries as they come in
    • We need 2 dressage judges, 1 jump judge, 1 course designer, volunteer scribes, show secretary, first aid attendants, concession
    • Trish will follow up with concession - suggestions Karen Nunn, Lions club, gymkana club
    • Loreli to follow up on dates and judges
  • Camp
    • Motion by Loreli to hold camp Aug 28/29. Seconded by Kathleen

  • Gymkana club is not available for concession
  • Joan Miller and her son are willing to be course designers & jump judges

We NEED donations! Everyone must collect at least 10 donations.

A donation letter will be emailed for printing.

We volunteered Patti keep track of auction items & do up bid

Does Patti have a list of all businesses that donate last year?

Is there a way Patti could keep an online list of businesses that

have been approached this year so that we do not double up?

Food:

Bev will buy food

We volunteered Trish and Loreli to cook noodles (ahead of time)

We volunteered Krista, Dannielle, and Grace to cook the sauce

(ahead of time)

Kathleen will contact Pat for the recipe and amounts to purchase

EVERYONE to bring desserts (ie – brownies, cookies, pies, cakes)

New Ideas:

Fold A Cart Raffle

o Tickets can be sold ahead of time and at the door, but winner

MUST be present to win.

o will use 50 / 50 style tickets with name on back (must have

ticket to win as well

Rockband

o Bev and C level members will run a rockband upstairs with

Bev’s Wii and Kathleen’s TV.

o $1 per person per song

o will need one adult supervisor & 2 PC members (can rotate)

o proceeds to go to Mane Event fundraising

Wine Walk

o 3 wine walks & 1 alternative walk (ie – sparkling apple)

o 20 spots available per walk

o Sign up per person is $2 and when 20 people are signed up

we do the walk.

o The winner of the bottle is the person who is standing on

the chosen spot.

o Club will purchase the wine.

New T‐shirts:

We have been asked to consider new t‐shirts that the members

will wear and feel proud of to be unified as a team.

Would like to have these shirts before Quiz if possible, but

definitely before the spaghetti dinner
